A convention used throughout many TV advertisements is guilt. By making the viewer feel guilty it makes them believe that they should donate some money towards the cause. This is an effective way of advertising as it really gets the viewer thinking about the advertisements. Furthermore these adverts are usually the most common ones which are remembered by people.

These adverts above both are successful at getting people to sponsor and donate some money to them. Throughout the adverts there are a varied amount of shots used, however most of them seem to be close ups or mid shots. From using close ups it allows the viewers to see the children which are suffering which makes you feel sympathetic. The Save the Children advert explains the problems which the children have and also the Great Ormond Street advert explains the positives of their hospital and gives explanations of what a certain amount of money could do for them. Lastly both of these adverts use slow music which adds to the viewer content of the advert and also draw attention of the audience into the advert.
