Below is the Cadbury Dancing clothes advert.
Reflection on Advert
After watching this advert, I can say that it does advertise the product well. They have featured the advert within a charity shop setting. This is why the audience see the clothes dancing around along to the music. This specific advert was an online exclusive which meant that it was not shown on the TV.
Camera: The advert starts of with a long shot and then begins to pan around. The audience then see a long shot of some clothing which has fallen of from the clothes rack. Here the audience see the clothes one by one fallen of from the rack. Here editing has been used as when this would have been filmed real people would have been wearing these clothes showing that they have taken into account special effects.
Editing:
Within the advert the audience see clothes dancing around. This has been shown through the numerous amounts of cuts which have pieced the different sections of the advert together. When thinking about how this advert would have been made, people would have actually been within this pieces of clothing. To edit this to make it look as if there is no one in them they made the clothes larger than needed and then have hidden the people. This editing is very clever and is something that is commonly used for adverts which involve a lot of animation. However I have never seen an advert like this before for Cadburys.
Sound:As soon as the advert begins the diegetic sound of a hanger swinging on a clothes rack creates a tensed atmosphere. Suddenly when the hanger drops on the floor, music starts to play which changes the atmosphere completely. The music within this advert has a happy theme to it. This helps to set the atmosphere for the rest of the advert. This music starts to come on right from the very beginning of the advert, whereas previous adverts I have watched the music sometimes comes in half way through. This does depend on the type of advert for example if a spokesperson is within the advert then even if there was some sort of music this would be very low and not upbeat.
Mise en scene: The advert is set in a charity shop setting which is then reinforced when the audience see the clothes which start to dance around the shop. This type of setting is not commonly seen on TV nor within any adverts. As the advert continues the audience notice that all of the shelves and the floor are the colour purple. This colour represent royalty. Furthermore this colour is also the main colour for Cadburys.
After watching this advert, I enjoyed the difference between this advert the previous adverts I have watched. Although even though I know this advert is adverting Cadburys chocolate as I am aware of the colours used due to it being such a well known company if someone was unaware of this, this advert wouldn't help them to guess that it was trying to advertise chocolate.
