M&M advert

M&M Advert

The narrative of this advert refers back to a man and women going on a date to a restaurant. What makes it reference to chocolate is that uses words such as 'delicious'. The advert starts of with a general conversation where we see the man and the m&m talking. The man is trying to explain to the m&m that its just milk chocolate on the inside.

The advert begins with a long shot showing the audience the setting and the two characters. From this long shot the audience can tell that it is set in a restaurant. This is referenced back to the advert in general as the advert is advertising food. Many over the shoulders shots and also a shot revere shot sequences have been used to allow the audience to see the facial expressions of both of the characters. By being able to see the facial expressions of a character it allows for the audience to try to understand how they are feeling and also what might be going through their mind helping them to establish the character in further detail.
At the end of the advert the audience see a long shot of the two characters where the M&M says 'gosh your handsome'. This connotes to the audience that this advert is trying to promote M&Ms in a positive way and is also trying to bring it to life with a little bit of fun. By using an M&M figure within the advert helps to instantly connote to the audience what this advert is going to be about. Throughout the advert no diegetic or non diegtic sounds are used apart from the two characters specking to one another until the very end of  the advert where the audience see an image of M&M's being coated in milk chocolate. This is relevant as reinforces what was happening within the advert due to this being something that the man mentioned. When this close up shot appear of the M&Ms  the logo also appears along with the slogan. This is a common convention in all adverts and helps the audience to remember what was being advertised.
